Near the end of 2015, I started reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and relating its content to personal experiences. From there, I developed a greater belief in attracting one’s desires into their life. I’m also someone who believes in the power of putting pen to paper in order to make things more likely to happen. At the beginning of 2016, one of my resolutions was to visit new places more often. This then surfaced my decision to create a list, for reference and for fulfillment.

This may sound funny, but this urge was greatly inspired by Instagram. Browsing through the visually-based social media network actually helped open my eyes to just how many treasures exist outside of the comfort of my sweet bed, especially in my home country of Jamaica. It was brought to my realization that there was more out there than just overcrowded venues and tourist-targeted attractions.

I decided to start locally, and proceeded to list places in Jamaica that I wished to experience. Most of them, I’d never been to, while there were a couple that I didn’t feel were fully appreciated the first time around.

To date 40% of the list has been checked off, and even gained a few more additions since its inception. I also desired to visit a new country, and actually ended up travelling to three by the end of the year, funny how some things work out. I only hope to do even more this time around.
