Spread the niceness

A system of revolving people and vehicles drives the New Kingston corporate district. The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel – a good balance of business and leisure – sits perfectly in the midst of the city bustle. A stroll through their sliding doors into the grand hotel lobby reveals a posh layout with collections of stylish furnishings and artworks. After checking in at the front desk you’ll receive a small booklet holding your room key, customized Wi-Fi login, and details of your stay’s inclusions.

Travel Tip: Room rates here are lower on weekends

The Royal Club floor has 3 two-bedroom suites, affectionately named after places in Jamaica – Princess Royal Suite, Trelawny Suite and Liguanea Suite. My friend and I enjoyed the generous size of the Trelawny Suite for a night! The mostly-white space was accented with coloured furnishings and metallic adornments which gave it a light, elegant feel. The central living area plus wide balcony with sweeping pool and city views granted options for us to lounge together, while our rooms granted us some solitude. The distance between the suite bedrooms offered the luxury of privacy yet the comfort of having someone steps away.

Beyond the property views lie rows of high-rise business buildings and the green haven of Emancipation Park. Nightlights of the city peered through the curtain to gently illuminate my room. For someone like me who likes to fall asleep to soft music and catch the sunrise, the alarm clock radio came in extra handy! I was later reminded a city sunrise isn’t nearly as striking as one in rural areas.

Jamaica Pegasus Hotel Restaurants & Bars

Jamaica Pegasus has 4 spots on location to enjoy a meal and/or drink. It’s no surprise that this business hotel caters to the grab-and-go requirements of fast-paced guests and walk-ins. Two of their quick fix eateries are evident from the lobby area: 24 Seven Café and Blend Bar & Lounge. As the name suggests 24 Seven Café is open all day every day, serving up Blue Mountain coffee and pastries. Blend Bar opens caps, corks, and lids later on in the afternoon with sides of small bites. The poolside bar similarly creates cocktails and light appetizers, perfect for lounging if you’re on island time under the shaded hut or umbrella seats. Blue Window Restaurant is the main eatery at this hotel. It offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner primarily in a la carte fashion but sometimes buffet style (their Sunday brunch is a big favourite).

Jamaica Pegasus restaurants and bars are open to guests as well as casual diners

Jamaica Pegasus Co(me) Work Spaces

A co-work — or as it’s called here, Co(me) Work — package features private aesthetic spaces catering to individuals and up to groups of 4. The lightly decorated space is fine as is but can be easily revised with a few custom additions of your own to suit branding. In my opinion it’s most ideal for interview-oriented recordings, virtual and small in-person meetings, and preparing for a professional presentation. I first used the space to record an Instagram Live Pandemic Travel Series with different guests within the industry.

Co(me) Work space bookings can be reserved for hours or days

Co(me) Work Space Inclusions:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Workstation(s) + Phone
  • Cable Television
  • Bottle of water + A tea and coffee station
  • In-room safe
  • Full bathroom (toilet, bath shower)
  • Closet w/ hangers

Jamaica Pegasus Events

Many are most familiar with Pegasus for hosting notable happenings and lovely weddings over the years. From seminars and workshops to recruitments to cultural launches to networking events, they have all been held here! I’ve been a patron or worker many a time at some Jamaica Pegasus-hosted event, including launches for Reggae Month 2020 and Jamaica Coffee Fest, just to name a few.

I personally think there’s a fair balance in this hotel’s atmosphere where you can visit with friends to enjoy a classy outing, but also be comfortable there in a professional setting. Not every business and leisure venue masters this; you can walk into the Pegasus lobby and observe a family smiling for photos beside suited executives laughing over coffee, with neither feeling out of place. All the indoor corporate events I’ve attended here boasted ample space, a suitable temperature, and a professional (yet not pretentious) environment… just like the rooms.

Kudos to the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel for top-tier service and comfortably chic environs that are open to all!
