Spread the niceness

Y Not Pita is a health-forward, fast food eatery serving freshness and flavour in Kingston, Jamaica since 2012. In late 2025 it revealed a new, polished interior featuring an emerald-green counter design, corner window dining area and minimalist lighting fixtures. Shaded courtyard seats provide more eating space and an outdoor dining option.

Fresh salads, wraps, pizzas, soups + more make it a refreshing sustenance choice in the bustling city. In Kingston & St. Andrew’s gastronomy haven, uniqueness and customer loyalty are key to last over a decade. Some traits that I think make Y Not Pita a standout Kingston restaurant are its:

  • Customizable dishes
  • Mediterranean pita bread flair
  • Variety of ingredients
  • Visible meal preparations
  • All-day breakfast options

Y Not Pita is located centrally in the ‘Golden Triangle’ business and residential area– near popular attractions like Bob Marley Museum and Devon House. It is a quiet spot to grab a quick meal, usually busiest around breakfast and lunch times. For a more intentional dining experience, its sister restaurant Chez Maria is popular for Lebanese & Italian lunch and dinner fusions.

Y Not Pita Menu– Salads, Wraps, Pizzas in Kingston, Jamaica

Y Not Pita’s “Eat Healthy, Live Happy” slogan speaks to enjoying food that both tastes good and can be good for you. Meals here are made from a combination of pita breads, proteins, vegetables and condiments in view of customers. Tasty salads, loaded wraps, crispy pizzas, daily soups and sweet treats are served from morning to night. The variety provides a hearty selection for meat lovers, vegetarians, pescatarians and vegans.

The menu has specialties and combos + the option to build your own pizza/ salad/ wrap! With 4 – 6+ topping choices and added sauces on a warm wheat / white pita bread base, it can be hard to choose. Feel free to ask the staff for recommendations, like I did for the menu picks below. Everything tasted like I should return for more the next day (or sooner)!

Y Not Pita Wraps

Breakfast Wrap
An egg wrap with a choice of cheese, 3 toppings, 2 condiments. It’s like breakfast on the go, with a full continental morning meal wrapped up in each bite. My egg wrap included:

  • Cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Sweet peppers
  • Bacon addition
  • Guacamole
  • Scotch bonnet pepper spread

Lunch/Dinner Wrap
A jerky wrap with jerk chicken and 6+ toppings and 2 condiments. The smokiness of jerk chicken is the dominant flavour, Mine was complemented with extra heat, sweetness and tang in a loaded wrap. It included:

  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Red onion
  • Sweet corn
  • Jalapeno peppers
  • Black beans
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Honey mustard sauce
  • Spicy mayo

Y Not Pita Salad

The signature Y Not Salad is a mix of chicken and beef with 6+ toppings and 2 condiments. Being able to customize with this many ingredients made it far from boring; this became a rare occurrence where I looked forward to eating a salad. The warmth of the meat and the fullness of the vegetables were so comforting. Mine included:

  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Sweet corn
  • Black beans
  • Mushrooms
  • Jalapeno peppers
  • Guacamole
  • Sweet onion sauce

Y Not Pita Pizza

The pita-bread pizza was lightly crispy, just the way I like it. Similar to pizzas I’ve had at Chez Maria, the freshness of the toppings translated in its flavour, and it is cheesy without the heaviness. Pizzas here can have at least 4 toppings, which can be hard to come by! Mine included:

  • Jerk chicken
  • Jalapeno peppers
  • Red onions
  • Pineapple chunks
  • Mozzarella cheese

Y Not Pita Soup

The soup of the day is a steaming cup of goodness. I had a small cup of good ole pumpkin soup. It was thick and flavourful; the heat and richness really did its job of opening up the appetite.

Y Not Pita?

If you’re wondering what pita is at this point, it’s a traditional Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flatbread. Its inclusion is also a nod to the restaurant owner’s heritage. In Greece however, the word pita means “pastry”. That translation could also apply here since there are dessert options available too.

For pita bread, steam puffs up yeast-leavened dough into 2 layers to create a pocket for stuffing. Pita is typically lower in calories than many other bread varieties. It is commonly dipped in hummus, used as a pizza/wrap base, split open and filled for sandwiches like gyros, or made into chips.

Next time you’re seeking a tasty and nutritious meal on the go, breakfast after 11am or just healthier food options in Kingston— say to yourself, ‘Y Not Pita’?
