Spread the niceness

S Hotel Montego Bay was built in 2019 on arguably the most popular street of Jamaica’s tourism capital. In a relatively short time, it gained a lot of acclaim locally and internationally. Some of its accolades were likely inherited from the already-established reputation of its sister hotel in Kingston, however the 2 are starkly different in my opinion despite the similarities they share. They’re both great options in 2 cities for business travelers, but S Hotel is more relaxed, has more amenities, and is now all-inclusive!

S Hotel: Montego Bay All Inclusive Hotel

My on-site service experience started from the parking lot where bags were taken with a smile from the car to the front desk for check in. On the way into the Montego Bay hotel a classic car at the entrance, resembling 1 that actress Katherine Hepburn brought during a 1950s stay on the island, is ready for a close-up. Inside the grand reception area is a chic blend of vintage and modern décor. Its gallery walls and classy furnishings border a polished, wooden walkway that leads straight to the main pool.

A welcome drink is served while you check in, which is always a great way to kick start an overnight stay, am I right? I also received a branded tote bag and box of Jamaican snacks.

S Hotel transitioned in 2022 to an all inclusive hotel. It opened as the 1st non-all inclusive in Montego Bay in many years.

By the way, before you continue…

After check in, you have your pick of lounging at a pool, beneath an umbrella on 1 of Jamaica’s best beaches, and sampling the 5 eateries on property. Wherever you venture to will surely have a pleasing collection of art, reggae, and Jamaica’s natural beauty on display. Unless otherwise stated, all food and beverages are included. The only amenities that attract additional charges are spa services.

S Hotel Rooms

S Hotel has over 100 rooms and suites facing the azure Caribbean Sea or buzzing ‘Hip Strip’ on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard. After collecting room keycards and electronic bracelets, we took our drinks and an elevator to the room. Each floor greets guests with life-size sculptures of cultural icons with an accompanying plaque of their stories and notable contributions to Jamaica.

All accommodations at S Hotel Jamaica include:

  • King or Double beds
  • Air conditioning
  • Ceiling Fan
  • Direct-dial telephone
  • Satellite TV
  • Safe
  • Mini fridge
  • Coffee maker + coffee & tea station
  • Bathroom amenities: rags, towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotion
  • Workstation

S Hotel Mini King Room

Mini King Rooms make up a majority of S Hotel’s accommodations. They include a cozy bedroom with spacious bathroom and closet space to the side. The window view from these rooms are of the hotel interior and a street view.

S Hotel Ocean View Rooms and Suites

A view of the Caribbean Sea can be seen from a wide window / balcony of these rooms. The best views of the property and beyond are arguably from the hotel pinnacle on the Sky Floor (6th floor).

The Spa Club Spa Suite was definitely designed with luxury and romance in mind. From the His & Hers bathroom layout with freestanding soak tub and walk-in triple-headed shower, to the enviable panorama from a private balcony! Stepping into this spacious suite instantly brought me feelings of relaxation and awe. Details within its sleek design such as a delicate room curtain separation and water closet were lovely touches.

S Hotel Restaurants & Bars

S Hotel Jamaica features 3 dining restaurants, a lobby bar, a poolside grill & bar, and 24/7 cafe.

Marketplace at S Hotel Jamaica

Marketplace is a chic area complemented by rootsy elements. Its decor shifts from a stylish café-like space to a tropical chill spot. This is where all the buffets are served at S Hotel. Its seating spills from the inside to the terrace and outskirts of the poolside.

S Hotel Jamaica Poolside Grill & Bar

This vibrant lunch spot right by the main pool will draw you in with music and warm colours. High chairs and umbrella tables here provide some afternoon shade while guests enjoy meals and drinks. At the side of the grill area is a small bar featuring a selection of sodas, beers, and cocktails. A poolside DJ, billiards and ping pong tables add some activity options to this chill spot.

S Hotel Roots Rock Restaurant

Roots Rock Restaurant is a reservation-only dining experience at S Hotel. It’s located on the 5th floor with a view of the Sky Pool area through its glass walls. The menu is populated with local cuisine favourites with a gourmet twist. The vibrant atmosphere is cornerstoned with colourful murals of Jamaican cultural icons and sound systems playing none other than Reggae music.

Rocksteady at S Hotel Jamaica

Rocksteady is a reservation-required restaurant open for dinner. It is known for its seafood dishes and international fare. Its sophisticated decor complements its grand piano on 1 end of the room. The whitewashed finish with black accents and minimalist images paying homage to musicians enhances its piano bar atmosphere.

Rocksteady is the name of 1 of Jamaica’s indigenous music forms

S Cafe & Bistro

Tucked in one corner of the lobby, just before reaching the pool area, is the 24/7 S Cafe. It serves Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee along with other beverages, pastries, sandwiches, and fruit plates. It’s a quick stop for a pick-me-up and light meals on the way to the pool or back to your room. The clear walls give a sweeping view of the main pool area, and the coffee table set up creates a relaxed space for quiet time and cozy conversations.

S Hotel Lobby Bar

Tucked in at the other side of the lobby is a bar, just by the entrance of the Rocksteady Restaurant. The lobby bar only hosts a handful of persons at a time, with TVs overhead and a bartender whipping up cocktails while guests pull up a seat.

S Hotel Pools

One of S Hotel’s signature features is a glass-encased rooftop pool. From my previous stay at a Treasure Beach villa with a rooftop pool, I just knew the elevated views of a beach would bring an extra level of tranquility! The 6th floor deck is populated with attractive loungers, mainly arranged for twosomes. The Sky Deck’s hypnotic backdrop stretches from the Montego Bay hotel to beds of champagne sands and the sapphire sea.

The main pool area lies downstairs. After checking in, it may be the first place many guests go as its alluring setup is evident through the glass floor-to-ceiling doors of the lobby. Lined by umbrella chairs and cabanas, this sweetheart aesthetic is a great place to lounge day and night. In the evening, the vibe turns up a notch with the help of lit fire pits, mood lighting and some music.

S Hotel on Doctors Cave Beach, Montego Bay

Looking to relax beyond the pools? The sands of the worldfamous Doctors Cave Beach line the perimeter of S Hotel’s main pool. The seawater here is believed by some to have curative powers. S Hotel guests have direct access to an exclusive section of this private beach. Once on the beach, you’ll be offered a lounge chair and rooted umbrellas for ultimate comfort on the powdery shore. The access point from the main pool includes security and a complimentary towel station.

S Hotel Conclusion

S Hotel is a swanky, family-friendly getaway, best for lovebirds and girls trips in my opinion. Though bearing many similarities to its sister hotel in the capital city, S Hotel has its signature distinctions. If you’re seeking a posh stay in the midst of action, with beach access, flowing food, good service and a lovely ambiance then look no further than S Hotel Montego Bay!
