Within the busy New Kingston district is a convenient blend of relaxation and professionalism at the Spanish Court Hotel. Its ambiance exudes sophistication and culture throughout the property, from the outer entrance to public areas and into rooms. The esteemed establishment has a mix of vacationers and business travelers roaming its corridors, eateries and lounges.

Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston
Like its sister hotel in Montego Bay, one of the 1st sights at the entrance of Spanish Court Hotel is a vintage vehicle. This particular car may look familiar to James Bond fans; it’s a replica of the one driven in the 1st movie, Dr. No. The story behind the vehicle, as well as stories behind many cultural icons, can be found framed and hung proudly upon the walls.
Walking into Spanish Court, my companion and I were delightfully greeted with a choice of 3 or 4 welcome drinks… champagne was our pick of the day! A custom Wi-Fi login and room keycard needed for access beyond the lobby area were issued. From the front desk I observed a small meeting of white-collared professionals in a lounge space and patrons slowly sipping from mugs in the corner café. There are also event spaces suitable for meetings, banquets, and business functions on property. Spanish Court is a little more low-key than another business hotel nearby, so if seeking hosting options in New Kingston you may take that into consideration.
Spanish Court Hotel Amenities
Being a guest of the Spanish Court Hotel includes perks such as:

- Pool and Jacuzzi access
- Room service

Spanish Court Hotel Rooms
Spanish Court has a collection of standard rooms, deluxe rooms, and suites. We stayed in a Standard King Room on the 2nd floor, with a window view of the road and High Commission across the street. Thankfully the bustle of the business district couldn’t be heard from inside the room. That was my main concern considering the rooms faced main roads. There is a slot on the wall for your keycard in order to activate the electricity and help conserve some energy.
Spanish Court Hotel’s accommodations include:
- King bed or double beds

Spanish Court Hotel Restaurants & Bars
All of Spanish Court’s on-site food and drink stations offer a selection of indulgences from both the local and international scenes.
Rojo Restaurant at Spanish Court Hotel
Rojo Restaurant is the main eating avenue at the hotel. It offers breakfast, lunch and dinner options during set hours. The breakfast buffet includes a daily mix of Jamaican and continental favourites. It has a large space and seating layouts that can accommodate anyone from solo diners to big groups. The vintage-meets-modern setup calls for smart- to elegant-casual dress when dining here. A small lounge area with a more relaxed vibe is tucked by its entrance. Ties can be loosened a little more here where it has TVs, tables for 2, and a bar stocked with top-shelf spirits.
Ska Café at Spanish Court Hotel
This cozy café is complemented with a TV and vibrant furnishings commemorating aspects of Jamaican culture. Ska Café serves some of the best coffee in the world (made in Jamaica) alongside pastries, sandwiches, and salads.
Sky Terrace at Spanish Court Hotel
On the top floor of Spanish Court Hotel, right under its emboldened red ‘S’ logo, sits the Sky Terrace. The most panoramic view from the city-centric property is here, and reveals some of New Kingston’s buzzing evening scenes. A quick walk up stairs at the side of the building can take you here from the parking lot. An aesthetic 50-foot lap pool in its centre acts as a bar area, lined by surrounding seats and long tables. This deck comes most alive after dark with flowing drinks and light meals under the blanket of a starlit sky.
Spanish Court Cabana Pool Bar
My personal favourite area on the property is (surprise, surprise) by the pool! Framed by cabanas and day beds, the poolside bar is the chill spot to grab a spirted drink and/or light meal. From sunlight to moonlight, upbeat music had heads bobbing by the bar during my visit. Rightfully so, guests soaked up alotta refreshing dips in the water and sun kisses in between cocktails.
Spanish Court Hotel Swimming Pool
Though Spanish Court has 2 pools on property, only the main pool area is used for swimming. This is exclusively for guests, and is a modish oasis in the city heat. A collection of furnishings perfect for lazing in your choice of sun, shade, or a bit of both line the pool. During my visit I was impressed to see an actual lifeguard, and to top it off he intermittently sprayed the sun-drenched day beds and swept the perimeter.
To the side lies a hot spa pool, equipped with 3 waterfall fountains causing a gentle foam. A refreshing swim in the regular pool finished off by a warm dip was as relaxed as I needed to be! I’m actually not the biggest fan of pools, but between the aesthetic, addition of a jacuzzi, and musical selections, Spanish Court Hotel may have been 1 of my favourite laidback hotel pools to date.
Spanish Court Hotel Wellness and Spa
There’s a small indoor gym on-site that is available to guests. It seemed to have enough to facilitate a vacation workout, no matter what time; it’s available 24 hours a day. All that’s needed for access (and electricity) is a room keycard. I didn’t get any workouts in during my visit (surprise again) but I did briefly consider it after finding a yoga mat in my room closet; I thought that was a nice unexpected touch.
Just across the corridor from the gym is the spa, which can be booked via the front desk. Unfortunately I didn’t get to check it out during my short visit but if you do, please let me know how it is; I love a good spa treatment during vacation.
Conclusion
Spanish Court Hotel can be a wholesome blend of business and leisure in the capital city, where you can relax all day or return to after enjoying other things to do in Kingston. With a maximum of 2-3 persons per room, along with the cosmopolitan vibe, I think Spanish Court Hotel is most ideal for a comrade or business trip. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, I highly recommend their Montego Bay sister hotel on the north coast!
